Arrived in Madrid earlier today!! (Actually it would be yesterday since it is 1am here). Time difference is really confusing me!! Anyways there were some complications on the way to Spain because in the states, one of my flights was delayed which would have made me miss my flight to Madrid, so I was switched over to another flight straight from Philly to Madrid without the other layover. Turns out, my bag was still scheduled to go with my original flight, meaning I had to wait for almost 3 more hours at the Barajas Airport in Madrid to get my luggage! It all ended up being okay though in the end.
I had some difficulties talking to the taxi driver since he didn't speak any English, but it was a good experience. Besides, that's what I came here for! To become fluent in Spanish and experience a foreign place!
I met my host family! They are all so very kind and I couldn't have asked for a better family to live with! They all speak very good English so that is very useful. Isabel, the mother, is helping me a lot with my Spanish speaking skills which I greatly appreciate! There are some minor differences in the way Spaniards speak versus Central American Spanish, but for the most part, I am getting it just fine.
Tomorrow should be exciting because I will be exploring Madrid with Isabel and doing some shopping and site seeing! I will definitely be posting pictures tomorrow of the city!
So far so good! ¡Viva España!
